Buhler- On Tuesday, voters in Buhler backed a 1 percent city sales tax proposal for a wellness center by a healthy margin.  Unofficial results showed 157 votes, or 63 percent, for the sales tax question, and 93 votes, or 37 percent, against it.

The tax will generate $60,000 to $80,000 annually.  Each year druing the 20-year life of the Buhler USD 313 bond issue for the athletic improvements, which passed in January and includes a wellness center in Buhler's Wheatland Park, the city will contribute about $40,000 for that project.

The remainder of the sales tax revenues will be available for other needs including "roads, utilities, drainage systems and other improvements," according to the ballot.
