DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Bethany College’s Olly Rubenstein was on fire Wednesday during the second round of the NAIA National Golf Tournament.
Rubenstein, a sophomore from Sheffield, England who had struggled to a 78 on Tuesday, blistered the course for a 3-under-par 69 on a day when play was suspended because of rain, scheduled to be resumed today.
Also for the Swedes, Jose Acevedo was 1-under par with a 71 and is just 1-over-par for the first two rounds. Ben Johnson, after shooting 77 on Tuesday, matched par at 72, while it was a tough day for Josh Meeks (81) and Josef Loughlin (85).
Bethany improved its team score by 13 strokes on Wednesday and was sitting in 18th place at the time the tourney was stopped.
