Vikings' baseball season ends

NICKERSON —Smoky Valley’s baseball season came to an end on Thursday when it was defeated 9-4 by Nickerson in the first round of the Class 4A Division II regional.

A five-run second inning blew the game open for the Panthers, who went on to be routed 15-0 in the finals by Concordia.

Dylan Goodell took the loss for Smoky Valley, which finished the year with a 3-16 record.

The Vikings were able to get their bats going somewhat, as Jordin Foth was 3 for 5 and Brett Heitschmidt added two hits.
