McPherson High’s Aislinn Hughes was selected Player of the Year and the Bullpups’ Chris Adrian was voted Coach of the Year as the AVCTL Division III-IV girls soccer selections were announced today.

The freshman Hughes was the Bullpups’ leading scorer as they won the league and finished second in Class 4-1A, losing in the finals to Topeka Hayden.

Adrian guided MHS to its highest state finish ever, as the Bullpups had finished third twice previously.

Hughes was joined on the first team by teammates Paige Schmidt, Alayna Wallace and Breckon Kaufman.

Second-team picks were Bullpup standouts Jessie Kynaston, Anna Schwindt, Sydney Ruder and Heidi Myers.

Laiken Hein gave the Bullpups nine players who earned honors as she was named honorable mention.
