LINDSBORG — Bethany College women’s basketball coach Brett Morehouse may have landed his most high-profile recruit of the offseason.

Andrea Moore of Houston’s prestigious Jack Yates High School has signed with the Swedes and could make an immediate impact.

She is a 5-7 guard who was named second-team All-District as a freshman and first-team All-District her sophomore through senior years. During junior season, she also earned first-team All-Region honors. In addition, Moore was voted the “Most Athletic Girl” at Jack Yates as a senior.

She averaged 14.7 points per game as a senior, along with 6.3 rebounds, 5.4 steals and 5.3 assists. She shot 56 percent from the field and 32 percent from 3-point range.

Moore graduated with honors in the Top 10 percent of her class. She has been a member of National Honor Society since her sophomore year.

"We are very excited to announce the signing of Andrea Moore," Morehouse said. "Andrea recently completed a remarkable career at Jack Yates High School in Houston. She was a four-year starter for one of the better 5A high schools in Texas and put up some pretty impressive numbers. In her four seasons, Andrea scored more than 1,000 points, grabbed almost 400 rebounds, dished out over 200 assists, and collected more than 330 steals. She also shot over 55 percent from the field as a senior, which is an outstanding number for a guard. Andrea has a chance to make an immediate impact on our program with her speed, size, length and athleticism. She is a hard-nosed defensive player who has the potential to develop into a potent offensive player due to her ability to drive and shoot the three. We look forward to working with Andrea over the next four years."

She is the daughter of Andre and Pammy Moore and plans to major in athletic training.
