LINDSBORG — Independence Community College transfer Samantha Stegner will be joining the Bethany College softball team this fall after signing a recent letter of intent.
Stegner batted .298 for the Pirates this spring, compiling a .360 on-base percentage and a .375 slugging percentage. She had a homer and 13 RBIs, while hitting five doubles and scoring 11 runs.
She’s a graduate of Central Heights School, where she was a pitcher for the softball team and post player in basketball.
Stegner earned first-team softball honors as a junior and senior as well as All-Area honors her senior year. In addition, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
"We are excited to have Samantha join our softball family," Bethany coach Janice Esses said. "With her experience, she will add leadership to our program. She will also add depth to our infield. We are excited to see how she develops within our program."
She is the daughter of Bob and Lea Stegner. She carried a 3.6 grade point average and plans to major in athletic training.
