New BC football coach Hubbard announces huge recruiting class

LINDSBORG — New Bethany College football coach Paul Hubbard has announced his spring signing class, which includes 46 players.

"We feel very good about the recruiting class thus far, the kids we're bringing in have a combination of size, speed and athleticism that is very promising to the future of our program,” Hubbard said. “More importantly they are all high-character kids that will represent the Bethany community proudly.” 

Heights and weights are not listed, but there is a capsule on each newcomer provided by Hubbard.

• Darius Jones — Athletic defensive lineman with good strength and speed.

• Marcos Castro — 2nd-team SVL defensive back, Defensive MVP has a real knack for finding the football.

• Adrian Covington — A tight end that has good speed and hands; can play with his hand in the dirt or in the slot.

• Armandeo Garcia — Offensive lineman that has good strength and technique.

• Tristan Dixon — 1st-team All-District. Top-ranked tight end at Midwestern State's Senior Elite event.

• Rhett Mizer — Athletic defensive back that has good speed and plays the football in the air well.

• Darius Lewis — A running back with good vision and schematic knowledge.

• Jaccob Carlson — A running back with good speed and strength who will provide depth at the running back position.

• Isjalea Greene — A fullback with great instinct and blocking ability.

• Jordan Tyler-Johnson — A running back with good speed and vision.

• Kaizan Alon-Alon — 1st-team All-League defensive back with good coverage skills.

• Carlos Martinez — A linebacker with a good physical presence and tackles well.

• Rod Haynes — An offensive lineman with good size and strength who will contribute right away.

• Trace Cooper — A defensive back that has good speed and tracks the football well.

• Ethan Smith — A linebacker with good feet and plays downhill.

• Jonathan Gaytan — Offensive lineman that has good feet and hands with a positive upside.

• Kayden Clements — 1st-team All-League running back, two-time varsity captain, team MVP.

• Keondre Woods — A defensive back with good cover skills and speed.

• Onajee White — An offensive lineman with good feet and strength.

• Trenton Wilkins — Frontier League honorable mention offensive lineman.

• Justin Pelkey — A defensive back with a nose for the football.

• Zack Horn — A linebacker that is aggressive and flys to the ball.

• Brad Smith — A linebacker with great athleticism and speed.

• Kerry Hubbard — Will be a good-sized addition to the interior defensive line.

• Nashon Smith — All-Area Southwest Florida, All-Area Manatee/Sarasota County, Iron Cane Award Winner.

• Dalton Goodwin —  All-League safety, Shrine bowl-safety.

• Chase Stalnaker — An offensive lineman with good technique and strength.

• Nick Patton — 90 Tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, has good spatial awareness and can tackle well.

• Isaiah Salazar — Honorable mention All-State.

• Tyler Greene — A hybrid receiver-tight end with good athleticism.

• Matt Huber — 150 yards receiving and 2 TDs last season as a wide receiver. He shows dependable hands.

• Edgar Flores — A linebacker with good athleticism and can play in space.

• Jason Drouillard  — Twin Valley All-League, 1st-team All Flint Hills and honorable mention All-State Division II, will add much needed depth to the Swede linebacker corps.

• Anthony Jackson — 1st-team El Cajon Valley HS as a wide receiver, Deshawn Mitchell Perseverance Award Winner.

• Christion Edwards — 2nd-team All-Conference linebacker that is looking to contribute right away.

• Saivon Lewis — Most Improved, most receptions in one season, most receiving yards in one season, first-team All-League.

• Alex Martinez — An offensive lineman with good feet and tenacious attitude.

• Tyler Bastian — 14 tackles (6 tackles for losses)

• Tyler Denetclaw — An offensive lineman with good power.

• Josh Dovenbarger — 1st-team Patriot League All-Conference.

• Colson Bacon — An offensive lineman that has good technique and uses his size well.

• Brett Lichter — Is coming in as a tight end, he has a high IQ and good skill set.

 • Izaiah Williams — A dual-threat athlete who had 1,399 rushing yards, 13 TDs and will contribute at receiver as well.

 • Trent Davis — 47 tackles, and 5.5 sacks as a senior looks to compete right away for a spot in the defensive line rotation.

• Caleb Hattabaugh — Caleb is a linebacker with a physical presence that will be welcomed to the defensive side of the ball.

• Mickey Farnham — Mickey was named a first-team All-Conference linebacker. He has good speed to complement his size.
