The Relay For Life of McPherson County is undergoing some changes this year.
Not only is the day different, on Saturday this year instead of the traditional Friday, but the location has moved to McPherson Stadium on the campus of McPherson College. Erica Goering said the feedback they received to the change of venue has been positive.
“People liked not being so spread out, as they were at Wall Park,” Goering said. “It gave them more of a sense of community and more chances to interact with the other relayers.”
The annual Relay isn't just a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, but more of a celebration of reaching the fund-raising goals for the year.
“And it's really a celebration of our cancer survivors,” Goering said. “A chance to share their stories and cheer them on as the continue to fight.”
The theme for the relay this year is Rope Up a Cure for Cancer. Saddle Club Queen Jordy Bailey will be starting off the walk at 4:30 p.m Saturday.
The survivor's walk is planned for 6 p.m.
In case of inclement weather, the Relay will be moved to the McPherson College Sport Center.
