LINDSBORG — Bethany College softball coach Janice Esses has announced the signing of Russell’s Anna Plante to a letter of intent.
Plante, a first baseman, will be transferring to Bethany from Pratt Community College, where she pounded out a .354 average with five doubles, 11 RBIs and on-base percentage of .409.
Plante was named second-team All-Jayhawk Conference Western Division.
At Russell High School, she played softball, golf and was a cheerleader. Off the field she was named to the Honor Roll. In addition, Plante was a wrestling manager for both Russell High School and Pratt Community College.
"We are excited to have Anna Plante join our softball family," Esses said. "Anna is a power lefty with a solid glove. She possesses the same dedication and determination in the classroom as she does on the softball field. Anna is very coachable and eager to improve her skills on the softball field. We look forward to working with Anna this fall and seeing how she progresses as a student-athlete."
She is the daughter of Lisa and Larry Plante. She carried a 3.63 grade point average and plans to major in biology.
