It will be a huge weekend for all bicycle enthusiasts July 18-19.
On Saturday, the second annual “Storm the Castle” event will be held, with the longtime staple Mowbray Metric completing the weekend on Sunday.
On Saturday, there is a 32-mile short stack ride that originates from Park School, 210 N. Elm Street. This is a free.
At 4 p.m., registration will be taken for the Storm the Castle Event, with the ride at 5 p.m. This is a 44-mile trail-gravel road ride (parts of Meadowlark Trail) to Coronado Heights and back. The start is at Trailhead on Old 81 Bypass and Northview Road, with refreshments at Trail Head.
On Sunday is the annual Mowbray Metric, which is named in honor of the late Clinton Mowbray, a longtime McPherson bicyclist. The start is at Park School.
Registration is 7 a.m., with the ride starting at 7:30. There are 20-, 40- and 62-mile routes depending on the seriousness of the bicyclist. Full lunch will be provided at the McPherson Senior Center, 112 E. Euclid. Showers will be available at Park School.
There is a fee charged for the Mowbray Metric.
