LINDSBORG — Quality transfers have been the bread and butter of the recent success of Bethany College men’s basketball.
Swede coach Clair Oleen has struck again with the signing announced today of Jalen Thompson.
Thompson comes to Bethany from Western Colorado State University where after redshirting one season, he played for two.
He is a 5-10 guard who averaged 2.7 points per game at Western Colorado as a sophomore. He shot 42.1 percent from beyond the arc and 67 percent from the free throw line.
Thompson graduated from Denver East High School, where he played basketball as well as football. He averaged 6 points per game, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
"Jalen Thompson is a super young man and fine student who played in one of the most successful high school programs in Colorado at Denver East under the legendary coach Rudy Carey," said Oleen, who has struck gold in Colorado with several signings already. "Jalen has been at Western State for three years and he has two years of eligibility remaining. We look for Jalen to provide us with quality backcourt depth."
Thompson is the son of Tyneese and Jason Thompson. He has a 3.0 grade point average and plans to major in physical health and wellness.
