Accessible Parking (for persons with a disability) — STO #87 & KSA 8-1,125

Accessible Parking; Revoked or Suspended Devices — STO #87.1 & KSA 8-1,130a

Loose meaning: This is a LENGTHY ordinance, but the short version is ONLY a vehicle with a disabled parking accessibility license tag or hanging placard —which is CLEARLY visible, may park in a disabled accessible stall.

The stalls which are in compliance with requirements are clearly marked and have a vertical sign which depicts the international symbol of access (pictured). This ordinance is enforceable on public and private parking areas. Anyone who does not have a disabled parking accessibility device (tag or placard) may not block or interfere with a disabled accessible stall. This includes not parking between those stalls or near enough to hinder van access to open a door or wheelchair ramp and move around safely.

The fine for violation of this ordinance is $50 with $55 court costs. Those found using a disabled parking accessibility device which is expired, revoked or suspended, or issued to another person may be fined $100-300 (as determined by the Municipal Judge) and court costs of $55.
