Lackey shoots 70 to lead age class at state

WELLINGTON — McPherson High junior-to-be Jacob Lackey grabbed a one-shot lead in his age class Tuesday in the first round of the Kansas Junior Amateur Golf Tournament at Wellington Golf Club.

Lackey shot a 70 to lead the 16 age class and is third overall. Cole Dillon of Manhattan and Kale Reynolds of Wichita, both in the 18 age class, share the overall lead with 69s. Ben Hadden of Shawnee paced the 17 age class with a 71.

Lackey entered Wednesday with a one-shot lead in his division over Jack Lee of Overland Park. Eric Pahls of Kansas City shot 72, Wells Padgett of Wichita fired a 73, Nicholas Kagy of Overland Park had a 74 and Parker Allen of Leawood checked in with a 75 as the division could have a tight race.
