WELLINGTON — McPherson’s Jacob Lackey shot a second-day 75 today in the Kansas Junior Amateur Golf Tournament at Wellington Golf Club.
Lackey’s two-day total of 145 puts him in a tie for second place in the 16-age division. He trails Wells Padgett of Wichita by one stroke heading into Thursday’s final round and is tied with Kansas City’s Eric Pahls for second place in the division.
Padgett shot a 71 today and Pahls a 73.
Lackey is one stroke ahead of Nicholas Kagy of Overland Park.
Lackey shot a 40 on his front nine today, blemished by a triple-bogey on his fifth hole. But he held it together on the back nine with a birdie and bogey, along with seven pars. He was coming off a first-day even-par round that included five birdies and five bogeys.
The older divisions are still on the course at the time of this posting. Lackey was in third overall after the first day.
