Nominations are being taken for the McPherson County Farm Service Agency county committee.
The FSA's Michael Westerman says the committee allows farmers and ranchers to have their voices heard...
“Their opinions and ideas get to be heard on federal farm programs,” Westerman said. “It is important for county committees to reflect America's diversity, so I encourage all farmers and ranchers, including beginning farmers, to get involved in this year's election.”
Westerman says that the FSA has seen an uptick in the number of nominations, particularly among women and minorities.
“To be eligible to serve on an FSA county committee, a person must participate or cooperate in an agency administered program, be eligible to vote in a county committee election and also reside in the local administrative area where they are being nominated,” Westerman said.
Nominations must be in to the FSA by the close of business on August third.
