McPherson voters have approved a three percent hike in the Local Option Budget.
Voting wrapped up Tuesday in the special mail-in question at 7 p.m., with numbers at 4:45 p.m. showing 2,381 in favor of raising the LOB from 30 to 33 percent and 1,333 against, with no new ballots received as of that time.
The McPherson County Clerk's office has not released official final numbers as of 6 a.m.
The USD 418 board of education was seeking the hike in the LOB in an effort to off-set anticipated budget shortfalls in the wake of a block-grant school funding formula passed by the Kansas legislature in March.
The district anticipates the increase to raise about $470,000, which 418 administration has stated will be used to lessen any further staff cuts.
