McPherson College women’s soccer coach Doug Quint continues to bolster the ranks with top-notch players.

Quint today announced the signing of Belen Villegas of Arlington, Texas.

She is a defender.

"We are so thankful that things worked out with Belen," Quint said. "She's a very accomplished transfer who can potentially play a large role within our team. Belen is a very technical player who is so composed on the ball. We look for her to have an immediate impact for us this fall."

Villegas most recently played for North Lake College in Arlington. The junior transfer played at Lamar High School in Arlington for coach Kay Giocondo.

Villegas started all four years at Lamar and was named the team's 2012 Most Improved Player.

She joined North Lake in 2013, was a two-year starter and a team captain her sophomore year. Villegas was a first-team All-Metro Athletic Conference player, named the Defensive Player of the Year and was an NJCAA All-American for coach Adrian Gonzalez.

She is the daughter of Salvador Villegas and anticipates to major in early childhood development at McPherson.
