Registration is open for the annual Mowbray Metric Weekend coming up in July.
Ronn Peters says this is the 36thyear of the ride and the 16ththat McPherson has hosted it. There are three rides over the two-day event.
“One of them is a ride down to Inman on Saturday morning,” Peters said. “The other is a new ride we started last year called Storm the Castle, which is a ride that goes up the Meadowlark Trail and jogs over to 13thAvenue and runs on up and eventually ends up at Coronado Heights. It's 44 miles in the heat of the day.”
The main Mowbray Metric ride will leave from Park School on July 19 at around 7:30 a.m.
In past years, the event would draw in 500 riders, though Peters estimates numbers this year to be at around 150.
“Of those 150, somewhere between 100 and 120 will come from out of town,” Peters said. “It's a growing thing for the community. It gets a lot of exposure.”
The deadline to register for a reduced fee is July 12. You can find out more about the Mowbray Metric Ride online at www.mowbraymetric.com.
