HUTCHINSON — McPherson’s Jacob Lackey shot an 82 Tuesday at Carey Park to finish in 10th place in the final regular-season junior sectional golf event of the summer.

Lackey finished in 10th.

He was tied with Buhler High’s Class 4A state champion Mac McNish for the final spot on the sectional team and they went to a playoff. Lackey missed a short putt on the first playoff hole that would have secured his spot, so a second hole was required. McNish then chipped in for a birdie to earn the spot.

Lackey is an alternate in case one of the golfers has to withdraw from the sectional team.

Lackey, who will be a junior at McPherson High, has had a fine summer, including a fifth-place finish in his age division at the Kansas Junior Amateur Championships at Wellington.
