Hesston High’s Mark Dahlsten has been named as the boys Kansas Tennis Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

Dahlsten led the Swathers to the Class 3-2-1A state championship as they survived a three-team battle with Wichita Collegiate and Kansas City Christian. Hesston scored 41 points, Collegiate 40 and Kansas City Christian 39.

It’s the second time Dahlsten has been honored, the other coming in 1994. Among the other winners is retired McPherson High coach Doug Gayer, who won the honor in 2003.

Dahlsten’s father, Ron, won the honor on the girls’ side in 1994. Gayer also won the award for the girls in 1997.
