McPherson couple facing federal indictment out on bail

The owners of Route 56 Express in McPherson standing accused of being in the country illegally among other charges are out of jail after posting a 100 thousand dollar bond.

Satishkumar Patel, 47, and his wife, Daxaben Patel, 36, were arrested last week by federal agents. Both face numerous charges relating to the operation of Route 56, including illegally obtaining social security numbers and bank fraud.

Additionally, Satishkumar Patel faces charges stemming from the ownership of a liquor store in Lawrence.

The Patels face up to 20 years in prison on the bank fraud charge, 10 years for the document fraud charge, three for the false citizenship claim and five years for harboring aliens, social security fraud and wire and mail fraud.
