BALDWIN CITY — McPherson High graduate Aaron Marshall, who is well on his way to being one of the top baseball players in Ottawa University history, has been selected to the Mid-Plains League All-Star Team that will play the Puerto Rico Summer Collegiate Team on Sunday in Junction City.
Marshall, who has earned All-America status at Ottawa and was among the NAIA national leaders in home runs this past season as a junior, is playing this summer for the Baldwin City Blues.
The Puerto Rico team is traveling the United States and last year competed in the annual National Baseball Congress Tournament at Wichita’s Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Marshall joined the Blues late, as he has played in just half of the team’s 26 games. But he made an immediate impact upon his arrival, as he’s 17 of 32 since joining the team (.531) and 11 of his hits are for extra bases — six triples, three doubles and two homers. He’s also driven in 14 runs in his 13 games, while walking nine times.
The Blues are in fifth place in their league, which is led by the Midwest Athletics, which includes a number of players from MIAA schools.
