SALINA — McPherson’s Junior American Legion baseball team captured a 12-7 victory over the Millard (Neb.) Sox today in its final pool play game of the Kansas Grand Slam.
McPherson finished pool play 2-1, good for the No. 2 seed behind the Midwest Bruins.
Post 24 was the beneficiary of 15 walks, including nine in the first two innings to construct an 8-2 lead.
The hitting then took over, with Sam Brossard going 2 for 2 with two RBIs, while Paxton Leaf also was 2 for 2. Zane Myers furnished two RBIs.
Raine Reitsma worked the first four innings to earn the victory, allowing two earned runs. Austen Hunt and Trey Hanken finished up, with Hanken tossing two scoreless frames.
