SALINA — McPherson’s Junior American Legion baseball team is facing undefeated Millard (Neb.) North this morning in bracket play of the Salina Grand Slam Tournament.

Today’s game starts at 10:00 and a McPherson win would put it in the 2:30 p.m. championship game. Post 24 is 3-1 so far in the tourney and Millard North is 4-0. The Midwest Bruins and Salina Hawks meet in the other semifinal.

McPherson won a pair of 12-7 decisions on Saturday over the Millard Sox and Buhler, respectively.

The victory over the Sox was posted online earlier, but in the game against Buhler, Zane Myers was the winning pitcher. Sam Broussard smoked a pair of doubles, while Dylan Werries and Jeffrey Reed had one each.

Buhler led 3-0 early, but McPherson scored four runs in the third inning, two in the fourth and then the capper, six in the fifth.

Post 24 is now 16-9-1.
