Bethany College put on probation

Bethany College has been placed on probation by an accreditation commission.

According to the Hutchinson News, the Higher Learning Commission placed the college on probation after expressing concerns with its finances. Bethany has been running deficits for the past eight years, in some cases losing more than $1 million in one year.

A team from the commission visited Bethany in November 2014 and recommended that the college be put on notice at that time, so the probation notification was unexpected.

The commission gave Bethany until November 2016 to resolve the funding problems.
