A planned microbrewery was given the approval of the McPherson City Planning Commission during their meeting Tuesday night.

The brewery, brought forth by Ian Smith, is planned to be located on the South 81 Bypass on the tract of land bordering state highway K-153. It would brew on-site and have a retail/wholesale space for sales.

At the moment, the brewery would be sales only and that on-site consumption would not be allowed, though Smith indicated that might change if the it proves successful.

The unanimous vote by the planning commission sends it on to the McPherson City Commission for final approval.
