SHAWNEE — McPherson’s 18U Lady Express softball team went 2-2 over the weekend.

The team suffered an early blow when standout leadoff hitter Kiley Kerr suffered a knee injury in the first game and had to miss the rest of the tournament. She was scheduled to have an MRI today. She missed most of her senior season in 2014 at McPherson High with a torn ACL on her other knee.

Here is a summary:

• Olathe Rockets 12, Lady Express 0 — Olathe rocketed past McPherson, which received hits from Madison Hoffman and Alex Landwehr. Julie Sinclair took the loss, but only one run was earned as the Express made five errors.

• Lady Express 7, Team Pride 4-13 0 — Jasmine Wann homered and doubled to back the two-hit shutout pitching of Hoffman, who did not walk a batter. Wann finished the game with five RBIs.

• Lady Express 4, Wichita Impact 2 — Hannah Marshall homered and drove in three runs to spark the victory. Hoffman was the winner and both runs she allowed were unearned.

• Classics 3, Lady Express 0 – The weekend ended when McPherson could manage only two hits, singles by Marshall and Nicole Cheek. Sinclair pitched well, as only one run she allowed was earned.

McPherson is now 21-4 on the season.
