NEWTON — Turkey Creek’s junior golfers continued their winning ways on Monday at the Fox Ridge Course in the Ping Interclub Series, even though the course proved to be a difficult test.
Only two players — Owen Gartner of Fox Ridge (78) and Patrick Chan of Wichita Crestview (79) — broke 80 in the hot-and-muggy conditions. The Creek, however, still came away with first place, followed by Crestview No. 1, Fox Ridge, Crestview No. 2 and Hesston. Turkey Creek has won each of the three tournaments so far.
Dylan Teeter, who is TC’s youngest player as he’s entering the seventh grade, led the way with an 80 for third place, while Jacob Lackey shot 85 for fourth.
Other McPherson scores were Casey Cheek (92), CJ. Steiner (93) and Colton Geren (115).
Hesston was led by Grant Brenneman with a 91. Other scores were Tanner Pauls (93) and Kit Kingsley (114).
Two tournaments remain, including the finale at Turkey Creek on July 26.
