LINDSBORG – Broadway RFD is gearing up for a weekend performance of The Wizard of Oz.
Vice President Dan Metcalfe says the curtain rises Friday and Saturday on the 2015 Summer Musical Production, which will be held under the stars at the Swensson Park Band Shell.
“We're pushing the show times back this year by 30 minutes to 8:30 [p.m.],” Metcalfe said. “We've got some fun, new things we're doing technically with projection and special effects, so that's why we're pushing it back a little bit.”
Metcalfe, who was a guest on Lindsborg Community in Perspective last week, says the production will be a traditional version of the classic story.
“The production we're doing is very much like the iconic 1930s movie,” he said. “There will be a couple of extra songs. There's a big dance number called 'The Jitterbug' that we've been working really hard on. It will be a great big dance production. It's one of my favorite parts of the show, actually.”
The show will have a second run July 24 and 25, also at 8:30 p.m.
Tickets are id="mce_marker"5 for adults, $7 for kids ages 5 to 12.
