Salina man leads law enforcement on high speed chase through McPherson County

The name of the suspect who led area law enforcement on a high-speed chase Wednesday afternoon has been released.

Garritt Ward Kent McConnell, 35, of Salina, is facing charges of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, felony flee and elude and driving while suspended following the car chase that started just before 3 p.m. on Kansas Highway K-61 south of McPherson.

McConnell, who was also wanted on a failure to appear warrant out of Hutchinson Municipal Court, made his way into northeastern Reno County, winding it's way through the Buhler area, before the he sped his way back onto K-61 and into the city of McPherson.

McConnell continued through several parts of town before he made a U-turn in the McPherson County Law Enforcement Center on West Woodside and was finally stopped in a nearby parking lot.

The entire chase lasted around an hour and reached speeds of near 100 MPH. McConnell was released from the McPherson County Jail after posting a total bond of $9,250.

Also arrested was Allison Stroda, 32, on charges of possession of methamphetamine. She was also released from the McPherson County Jail after posting $2,000 bond.
