A fire at a Moundridge home Wednesday caused $60,000 in damage to the basement.

According to Moundridge Fire Chief Ron Blaylock, the homeowner came home just before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday to find smoke coming out from beneath the front porch of the home, located in the 500 block of East Cole Street.

Firefighters confined the blaze to one room in the basement of the house, though Blaylock estimates that damage to the structure and contents of that room to be at $60,000.

No one was injured and no one was at home at the time of the fire.

The cause is still under investigation.
