WICHITA — McPherson’s Treg Fawl will tee it up in the heat of the afternoon on Tuesday for the first round of the Kansas Amateur Golf Tournament.

Fawl goes off on No. 1 at Wichita Country Club at 1 p.m. He is paired with Zac Burton of Manhattan and Trevor Johnson of Maize. Burton, ironically, is a former quarterback at Bethany College and the son of one-time Hutchinson High football coach Brady Burton.

On Wednesday, Fawl, Burton and Johnson will tee off at 8 a.m. off No. 10.

Fawl, who won a playoff at Alvamar Country Club to advance to state, is hoping to make match play for the second time. The top 64 players after two rounds move on to match play.

Fawl has won the last five McPherson City championships, winning this year’s event after a two-hole playoff with his former Central Christian College teammate Mark Gayer.
