McPherson City Commissioners gave the go-ahead for the McPherson Police Department to draw up a contract to equip officers with body cams.
Assistant Chief Mike Terry said during a study session Monday that they were able to come up with $7,500 in the budget for the purchase of 18 cams.
“With that, we would outfit every officer with a body camera and leave us with two spares in case they broke,” Terry said.
Total cost with shipping would be just over $7,200. This would be in addition to the six body cams purchased earlier in the year.
The commission is expected to formally accept the purchase during next week's meeting.
