Plans are well underway for the Smoky Valley Classic Car Show, which will be held at Swensson Park in Lindsborg Aug. 1.
Lindsborg Police Chief Tim Berggren is the event coordinator. He says expects a good turn out, providing the weather behaves.
“I think car shows are really based on the weather,” Berggren said. “Weather is always an important issue on how many show up. Day of show, we're hoping for a beautiful day. Fortunately for us here in Lindsborg, we have been pretty fortunate just about every year for the car show. So I look for a pretty good group for the car show.”
Berggren says judging the cars entered will be professionally judged for various awards.
“Some of the awards are for best club participation,” Berggren said. “We have long-haul awards. I give out an award as police chief, Police Chief's Choice. There's also Highway Patrol and Sheriff's Choice. [It's for] cars that would be most likely to get a ticket and get pulled over for no reason, things like that. So we have a lot of fun with it.”
Judging should start around 10 a.m. and be completed by 3:30 p.m.
