After a lot of discussion, the City of McPherson is ready to move forward with a new city website.
City Commissioners gave the OK to a contract with CivicPlus, a company out of Manhattan that specializes in developing governmental websites.
“We really feel that this will be a good website firm,” McPherson City Administrator Nick Gregory said. “It's the same company [McPherson County] uses for their website. I've worked with them in the past at other positions I've been with, as well. They're a well renowned website design firm and they come with a lot of new updates.”
Gregory adds the contract with CivicPlus includes both website design and hosting. He also wouldn't rule out the possibility of developing an app for the city in the future.
“We'll evaluate some of the current technology that we already have and determine if an app is a direction that we wish to go,” Gregory said.
The City agreed to a contract worth $19,494 in the initial year for set-up and hosting. After that, hosting is $3,000 a year.
The commission approved the contract 3-0. Gregory says he hopes to have a skeleton version of what CivicPlus is planning to design shortly, though no firm time frame was announced.
