LINDSBORG — Bethany College women’s softball coach Janice Esses has added a transfer from Newman University to her team for next year.
Alyssa Jarman, of Auburn, Wash., will be joining the Swedes after playing her sophomore and junior years at Newman, which is located in Wichita.
Prior to her time at Newman, Jarman attended Brown Mackie College-Salina and played for current Swedes assistant coach Laura Moreno. As a freshman, Jarman was named second-team NJCAA All-Region VI. She hit .448 with 82 hits, eight doubles, one triple, one home run, 58 runs and 27 RBIs. She also displayed great speed with 46 stolen bases in 52 attempts, which ranked her fifth nationally.
Jarman attended Auburn Riverside High School, where she earned honorable mention All-League as a senior.
"We are excited to have Alyssa join our softball family," Esses said. "She will add experience and leadership to our program. We feel Alyssa will strengthen our outfield position with her speed and communication skills. She will also give us depth and versatility in the batting lineup."
Jarman is the daughter of Terri and Steve Jarman. She plans to major in sports management.
