Native of Greece joins BC soccer team

LINDSBORG — The Bethany College men’s soccer team is hoping for some Greek goals next season.

Frank Barry of Corfue, Greece, has signed a letter of intent to play for the Swedes this fall.

The 6-4 Barry arrives in Lindsborg from Kato Korakiana High School. His senior he scored 13 goals and dealt out 11 assists. His middle year of high school, he tallied nine goals and 14 assists. In his first year, he recorded 10 goals and 12 assists.

Barry's team was the winner of the top Corfu league. In addition to playing soccer, he also played table tennis.

"We are delighted to have Frank sign with our program and attend Bethany," Swede coach Shane Taylor said. "He will bring a strong presence to the middle of the field and our team in general. His excitement and passion has already rubbed off on the coaching staff and we cannot wait to have him here." 

Barry is the son of John and Jane Barry.
