WICHITA — Smoky Valley’s Austin Cook received a “Catchy” award Monday as he was voted the Best Wrestler.  announced its winners for its annual awards and Cook clearly deserved the honor after winning his second straight Class 4A state championship.

Cook, who will be attending University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, was the only McPherson area athlete honored.

McPherson High had two nominations as its boys basketball team was up for 4A Team of the Year (which went to Rose Hill’s boys soccer team), while Gallagher Martin and Nolan Schrader were up for Boys Tennis Singles Player/Doubles Team of the Year. That honor went to Sacred Heart’s Stratton Brown.
