A group of McPherson High Bullpup fans are wanting to spruce up the banners in the Roundhouse and are looking for your help.

MHS Activities Director Shane Backhus told the USD 418 Board of Education the group noticed a few of the older banners in the vaunted gym looked a little faded.

“In actuality, they're not faded,” Backhus said. “They're older, but they were made out of a different material pre-1995. It is more of a glossy, shiny, shimmering material compared to the ones that we put up now.”

The group asked permission from the board to seek out donations from Bullpup alumni and the community to help replace the 18 banners in question, a project Backhus estimates will end up costing nearly $10,000 dollars. That's because the banners run about $500 to replace.

The plan, as presented Monday, would be to replace all 18 at the same time.

“Because we don't just want to replace the most popular banners,” Backhus said. “If we're going to do it, we're going to do all of them.”

It was noted that, should the group not raise the required amount or if they receive too much in donations, then they will donate the money to the McPherson High School Booster Club.

The board approved the request to raise funds unanimously.
