Marc Golden is the new women’s basketball coach at Central Christian College, according to an announcement made today by CCC Athletic Director Twiggs Reed.
Golden replaces Chris Honeck, who recently stepped down after four seasons.
Golden most recently was the head varsity girls coach at Evangelical Christian School in Fort Myers, Fla. He was there for three seasons, where he compiled a 42-11 overall record and an 18-0 mark in district competition. His team captured back-to-back district championships in 2015 and 2016.
Earlier Golden had spent four seasons at his alma mater, Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo., as an assistant under coach Joe Lamansky, which included a 20-win season in 2009-10.
"It is an honor for me,” Golden said, “that the Central Christian College administration and athletic department believe that I can be a meaningful part of the growth and success of women's basketball at this great school.”
“I am excited that Marc and his family have decided to become part of our family here at CCC,” Reed said. “Marc’s passion for coaching women’s basketball and his desire to minister to our young women through the game of basketball stood out during the interview process. I look for good things to come from Marc and the Tiger women’s basketball team in the future.”
Golden and his wife, Peggy, have been married for 26 years and have one daughter, Holly. They currently reside in Kansas City, Mo., but will be making the transition to McPherson sometime this summer.
“We are a sports family and are looking forward to supporting Tiger athletics as loyal fans of the school’s many other programs in addition to basketball,” Golden said.
