Tonight is the night.
All parents of athletes who will be competing during the 2017-18 school year at McPherson High and McPherson Middle School are urged to attend the annual sports parents meeting tonight at the MHS Theatre.
The meeting has a 6 p.m. start.
The meeting covers details and information that all parents of athletes need to know before their child participates. The meeting is combined this year since some parents have athletes at both schools.
The meeting will begin with a general session under the guidance of MHS Athletic Director Shane Backhus and new MMS AD Kendra Cooper that all parents — regardless of season — should attend.
Topics will include student eligibility guidelines, safety and concussion management, substance abuse policy, conflict of interest policy, Booster Club information and other KSHSAA and USD 418 guidelines.
There will also be a question-and-answer session.
Following the general session, the fall coaches — football, volleyball, cross country, girls tennis, boys soccer, and cheer and dance — for both MHS and MMS will have breakout sessions with parents regarding their upcoming seasons.
The first day of fall practice is Monday.
