JV netters have been busy

EMPORIA — McPherson High’s JV tennis team competed in back-to-back separate meets on Thursday and Friday in Emporia.

In the Thursday meet, the Bullpups scored 19 points to tie for third place. Maize won the meet with 30 while Miege was a point behind. 

MHS’ Kaleb Achilles was third at No. 2 singles, while Alex Houston played No. 1, taking fifth.

In doubles, MHS’ No. 1 team of Zach Butler and Kade Goss took fourth, and the No. 2 team of Sam Boese and Chris Malaby placed fifth.

In the Friday meet, the Bullpups were fifth with 14 points, finishing behind Washburn Rural (31), Emporia (28), Topeka Seaman (23) and Junction City (21).

Three entries places fifth — singles players Jackson Fox and Clayton Everhart, as well as the No. 1 doubles team of Butler and Goss. Taylor Miller and Gavin Dobson were seventh at No. 2 doubles.
