HUTCHINSON — Dominant pitching propelled the McPherson 12-U Reds to the championship of the recent Hutchinson Baseball Tournament.
Reds pitchers gave up only three hits the entire tournament as they went 4-0, with nary a close game.
• Reds 11, Aces 0 — Alex Robertson and Teegan Haines combined on a no-hitter. Robertson pitched three innings and fanned seven, with Haines striking out two in his lone inning.
Blaise Hoover and Gunnar Schumacher collected two hits apiece, with Schumacher picking up a triple. Six runs in the third inning instigated the rout.
• Reds 7, Buhler Knights 0 — Schumacher fired a one-hit shutout, fanning a whopping 11 in his five innings.
He also had two hits, as did Caden Burris. The big inning was the fourth with six runs, keyed by RBIs by Hoover, Robertson and Alex Wheat.
• Reds 17, 12U White 2 — Hoover whiffed nine in his four innings of work, allowing just two hits.
Wheat, Hoover, Kyden Thompson, Burris, Joey Miller, Schumacher and Haines all had two hits.
• Reds 8, Halstead Fire 1 — Owen Fetsch was literally unhittable, as the Fire did not collect a single safety. Hoover topped the offense with a pair of hits.
