McPherson’s Ben Pyle made his official regular-season debut for Western Illinois on Tuesday and the former Bullpup showed that he belongs on the Division I stage.
Pyle started for Western Illinois against Big East power Creighton and responded with a fine game.
He played 34 minutes in a respectable 78-67 road loss to the Bluejays, who could be an NCAA Tournament team at the end of the year.
He made 4 of 10 shots — 3 of 6 from 3-point — and scored 11 points, while grabbing 5 rebounds and committing just a single turnover.
Meanwhile, McPherson’s Mandi Cooks also made her debut for NCAA Division I University of Texas-San Antonio on Tuesday in a 78-51 victory over Concordia of Texas.
Cooks got the start and played 17 minutes, scoring 5 points, pulling in 2 rebounds and blocking a shot.
