SV 2nd, Hesston 5th at CKL wrestling

LARNED — Smoky Valley’s Jon Burks and Ethan Wampler captured Central Kansas League wrestling championships on Friday, which led to the Vikings taking second place as a team behind Pratt.

The Greenbacks scored 238 points to easily win the title as the real battle was for second as the Vikings scored 119 to edge Hoisington, which has 107 1/2.

Burks went 4-0 to win the 220-pound class, while Wampler recorded four pins before winning a 12-5 decision in his title match at 285.

Chase Pywell at 160, Dax Hopp at 170 and Tanner Luttig at 182 all took second.
