McPherson High’s Grace Pyle is a finalist for the Class 5A Player of the Year by Sports in Kansas.

Pyle was the leading scorer in the Class 5A State Tournament and finished the season with a flourish as she was MHS’ top scorer on the season.

The 5A field appears to be wide open. Other finalists are Alayna Townsell of St. Thomas Aquinas, Halie Jones of Maize, Kade Hackerott of Goddard, Ishante Suttington of Kansas City Schlagle and Katie Wagner of Maize South.

Hesston’s Elise Kaiser is up for 3A Player of the Year. She’s going up against Haven’s Faith Paramore, Cheney’s Kylee Scheer, Royal Valley’s Mary Broxterman, Jeff West’s Aaliyah Negonstott, Halstead’s Kareena Gerber, Russell’s Tiffany Dortland and Baxter Springs’ Delaney Barnes.
