WSL basketball teams include area cagers

Little River, Elyria Christian School and Canton-Galva had solid representation on the All-Wheat State League Basketball Team released this week.

Little River’s Jayden Garrison and Graham Stephens were joined on the boys’ first team by Elyria’s Caleb Froese, Aidan Fields and Tyler Huxman.

Elyria’s Zach Goodrich was Coach of the Year.

Also on the first team were Dylan Lindeman and Drew Lindeman of Goessel, Josh Sandow and Cameron Campuzano of Rural Vista and Xavier Espinoza of Centre.

Little River’s Jace Garrison, and Canton-Galva’s Tyson Struber and Landon Everett made the honorable mention list. They were joined by Tomas Berko of Rural Vista and Tyler Marfise of Solomon.

For the girls, Canton-Galva’s Alexa Bell and Tia Moddelmog were named to the first team, and were joined by Kaylie Zimmerman and Emma McBride of Little River.

Other first-team picks were Lauren Campuzano and Hannah Riedy of Rural Vista, McKenzie Shippy of Herington, Kelsey Hett of Centre, Kayla Webb of Solomon, and Stephany Meyer of Goessel.

Elyria’s Kylee Penner led the honorable mention team. Others chosen were Holly Brockmeier of Rural Vista, Carrie Roe of Herington, Alyssa Espinoza of Centre and Tea Copenhaver of Wakefield.

Rural Vista’s Kane Hensley was named Coach of the Year.
