For the second straight day, Central Christian College’s baseball team put a scare into the nation’s No. 5-ranked team.

Central, which lost 7-6 to Oklahoma City on Friday, put up another competitive battle on Saturday against the Stars before losing 7-5.

The Tigers led 2-0 early and also staged a ninth-inning rally that came up short.

Shomari Cann, Christopher Sanchez, Tyler Brown, JD Noey and Titus Beacham all collected two hits for Central. Noey drove in two runs.

The Tigers are now 1-18 in the Sooner Athletic Conference even though they have been competitive in many games. They take a 2-33 record to Mid-America Christian on Friday.
